Operation Internet Love Machine

One obstacle we will definitely face in the future is that of our public perception. The old Anonymous of the chans and insurgency boards, known as "hackers on steroids" and an "internet hate machine" largely dominates public perception of us. This hurts Anonymous on the media front and it makes it very easy for Scientology officials to demonize us.

Operation Internet Love Machine is about flipping that perception and disarming Scientologists with our compassion and humanity.

Our goal is to foster friendship between individual Anons and Scientologists, get both of them to see each other as real people, share information and points of view, and hopefully come away better people. By speaking with them calmly, rationally, and on the same level as them, we will be able to get to them when their guard is down. As we plant little seeds of doubt and thought, we water them daily with our correspondence.

Using your anonymous email account, converse with them about their faith, why they believe what they believe, where they are on the bridge, their passions in life, what they think about scientology's many controversies, and so on. Don't be overly antagonistic, be polite, and when needed you can even agree with some of their points.

By reaching out and connecting with a real human, we not only get to see the people we're trying to save, but they also see us as real, living, breathing, compassionate humans. That will do us and them more good than bull baiting them or ridicule. Disarm with humanity.

Before You Start

  1. This Operation isn't for everyone. You don't need a lot of internet bravado to do this, just a lot of heart. You will probably be called names (I was called a child molester in my first reply), you will probably be insulted, but pay no attention. Turn the other cheek, ignore the barbs, and be patient.
  2. This isn't something that will be over in a few days or a week or a month. You could be fostering this relationship with your Scientologist for months, maybe years to come. If they are truly open to you, and you are truly open to them, then it could go one forever.
  3. You will need to have a way with compassionate words. No insults, no cursing, no bull baiting.
  4. Protect yourself! Make sure you have a separate, anonymous, email account for this project. Don't contact a Scientologist with a screenname that could be traced back to you. New GMail, youtube, and facebook accounts are always free.

Dropping Love Bombs

Find A Scientologist

Scientologists are all over the internet, from Usenet to Facebook and everywhere in between. Here are a few starting sources to find yourself a new friend.

Find Out More About Your New Friend

Sometimes you will be lucky enough to get their real name, either by guessing it from their email address, or they will just happily sign their correspondence with it. Never, EVER use this information maliciously! The Church might not be so kind to you, but don't stoop to that level. With their name, you can find their completion stats and they Scientologist biographies, which make for AMAZING connection fodder.

  • Scientology Completion Stats - Decades of stats, find out where your penpal is on the Bridge.
  • Meet Scientologists Online - The Church's own website. Over 16,000 cookie cutter sites with contact info and bios. These contact forms are probably filtered, but you might want to try anyways. The bios are a great way to get tons of background for instantly make that personal bond you need for this to work. If we're dropping love bombs, the info here will help you make bunker busting smart love bombs.

Who to Find

While you can't always know the identity of your Scientologist up front, you might get lucky. Here's how to properly find your target.

  • Find people who are Pre-Clear or otherwise not that far up the Bridge. While convincing an OT8 to give it up would be a major win for both sides, it's an uphill battle from the start. Go for the fresh meat that the Churches depend so heavily on for fresh cash infusions, rather than the staff members who pay much less in fees.
  • You might want to find someone from your some state/country, as it will help you disarm them further by being a local with common local interests. Be warned, though, if you're not careful this could expose you much more than you want.

Beginning The Conversation

  • Opening Lines
    • Hi! I found your website and it said that I could ask you anything about Scientology...
    • Hello, I was wondering if you had the time to talk about Scientology.
    • I don't know much about Scientology, but I find it fascinating, can you tell me more about it?
    • I'd love to talk to you about Scientology if you have a few minutes.
    • I'm learning about Scientology but some of the things I'm reading don't quite make sense, can you help me out?
    • I started reading Dianetics, but I'm not sure that I understand the tech correctly, do you know it well enough to help me with it?
    • I'm not a Scientologist, but I find it very interesting from a philosophical standpoint. What do you think about the theory of the reactive mind?
    • I saw on your profile that you run your business with "LRH tech", what does that mean?

My Story

A Scientologist defaced this wiki a little while ago. I was able to email him "call your family, they miss you" and after a bumpy start we've been having a very civil and amiable dialog that is still going on.

It's opened my eyes to hear a 20+ year Scientologist talk about his faith rather than bullbait. He may not be incredibly rational, since we're dealing with a hard to grasp level of faith here, but it is still better than the "WHAT ARE YOUR CRIMES" we have seen. He's a real person and the real victim that we're trying to help.
