[edit] A shot across the bow!
http://forums.enturbulation.org/15-breaking-news/may-17th-dianetics-event-all-us-cities-12612/ Check it out, May 24 the Houston Mission will be having an event with doors opening at 5:30pm. I know it's a bother to get there quickly at that time, but this would be the PERFECT way to end our days on fondren. I will take time from work to gather the troops, and can transport up to four other people with me. However, it seems likely that I will have atleast one or two takers immediately, so seats may go fast. I live near the center of town, and do best collecting people from that area. Can we get just a half-dozen more people out? Ten protesters would be enough to ruin these guy's evening - EPIC LULZ for everyone. Who's with me, brothers in shadow, I mean, me mateys? -- Offmessage
- TOTALLY! This sounds awesome! I'm in the med center. I can provide transportation. Message me if you want or need any. anonbmcq @ anonhouston.com or I'm in IRC sometimes. We should meet up at 5 at the hollywood video, ya? -- anonbmcq
- I'm there. Man the harpoons, folks. Start spreading the info IMMEDIATELY. -- Anonymous081993
- CRAP. I'll be out of town. All offers for ride are cancelled. Though who wants to be a passenger with a female driver anyway? --anonbmcq

[edit] TOP SERIOUS DISCUSSION RE: TIME
It is too fucking hot to be out there at a raid at 11am. However, the local org's (excuse me, MISSION's) calendar is here: http://anonym.to/http://scientologyhouston.org/calendar.htm (SEVEN PROXIES, etc) They close at 5:30 on Saturdays. Start talking. -- anonymous081993
- 1700 or 1730 are both decent times. It would be funny to see (as you said elsewhere) if folks at the mission would stay late to shout "ROBBLE ROBBLE ROBBLE" at us. Either way, evening hours FTW. --Ray Jay 1964 19:57, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- evening hours most definitely in the future. I propose meetup at 5pm, Raid at 5:30pm. --Anon14148 20:12, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- I have seen no disagreement with this adjustment anywhere. As of now I'm spamming a new time for Houston everywhere. 5pm meetup, 5:30 raid.

[edit] Let's get to it, mateys
All right. Discussion starts here and now. We need to reach a consensus within one week, I'm thinking. June is going to be fucking brutal, heatwise. If we have it at Fondren/Westheimer midday again, I don't think I can do it. And I absolutely don't want to miss a raid/event. But our stats will go way down if we continue having raids in the midday heat where there isn't any shelter. So, without further rambling, /r/ info regarding parks and ideas regarding event format. -- Anonymous081993
- Like others, I think a late afternoon/early evening demonstration might work. It's a busy corner. I think we'd have to start earlier than 5 PM; signs won't be visible or legible at twilight, and being out there after dark would be plain silly. Starting at 3:30 or 4 might let us avoid the heat of midday while still giving us a few hours before sundown. I'm not against setting up in a park or whatnot, but I'll be damned if I can think of a good one. -- Ray Jay 1964
- It's really very simple: Sea Arrrgh at Schlitterbahn! -- Anon14148
- HA.. that would be hilarrrious.. angry ninja's are angry...btw -- Ananonymous.Now
- Oh, I totally want to dress up as a ninja and protest the pirates. -- Anonymous081993
- I like this. Would we get in trouble for handing out things? Even if we do and don't hand stuff out, it'd be a fab morale booster. :) -- Anonbmcq
- Agreed. I know jack about the place, though. -- Anonymous081993
- How about starting at 5:00 p.m. at Westheimer/Fondren. First post here -- not quite sure if I got this right. -- Whatntha
- I like that idea too. Just do it in the late afternoon/evening. Foot and car traffic will be roughly the same. -- Anon14148

- There are a few things going on that weekend at which we could distribute flyers. http://www.houstonpress.com/search/events.php?oid=791335 -- a 5K http://www.houstonpress.com/search/events.php?oid=791332 -- some kid festival. Parents may be there. Well, they should. http://www.houstonpress.com/search/events.php?oid=740177 -- Miller outdoor is starting up. IRL spam. Woohoo -- Anonbmcq
- Unfortunately, I don't live in that area of Houston, but is there some sort of public square or similar open area that we could protest in? I admit, I'm jealous of the Aussie protests, where they can protest in a well traveled market area as opposed to being crammed on the curb. If there is a well populated square we can protest in, we could hand out fliers to passer-bys, set up information booths, and have a better sound set up. -- Rephil
- Well, there's sugarland town square. But Sugarland police have been ridiculously huge A-holes to me in the past. Someone could call and ask. :) edited to add: Sam Houston park downtown is also a public park. I know memorial park's been mentioned... there's also that stretch of road near allen pkwy and montrose/studemont -- Anonbmcq

- Hmmm. Discovery Green seems like an interesting place to hold a protest. Their site doesn't seem to have any sort of info about organizing public gatherings, though. Anyone care to talk to the park's staff and investigate? -- Ray Jay 1964
- DG will have good family foot-traffic, but it's essentially a place to either pretend you're in NYC and lie on the grass, or take your kids/dogs to go batshit wild in their respective protected areas. While there will be foottraffic, I have the distinct creepy-crawly feeling that masked randoms wandering the park will be poorly received. DG is fine for an unmasked raid or for mini-raids, though. It's a place you could have totally canvassed in a little over an hour. It's the size of a downtown block. It's also probably party-friendly. There are a couple restaurants there, and a big misting metal sculpture. I'm all for people in water- especially femanons. Objectifying Anon is objectifying. -- Offmessage
- Yeah, forget Discovery Green for all but mini-raids. --Ray Jay 1964 20:00, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
